My Experience
Let me share my personal journey to Kalsubai. After a successful expedition to Ratangad, I was inspired to set my sights on Kalsubai. Booking my ticket and joining the same group, I soon realized that the Saturday expedition wasn't as well-prepared as our previous outing. A bit of uncertainty lingered, but eventually, the group was formed. Our adventure truly began when we boarded the 9:30 PM bus from Thane. Concerns about ticket cancellations due to unfilled seats were alleviated when we reached the bus station in time. A slight delay due to traffic notwithstanding, my excitement was undiminished.
Finally my journey to Kalsubai started. The highest peak in Maharashtra...I was not afraid anymore. The next journey started with a short break in between. In fact, this is a special trek to see the sunrise. In fact, if you start the trek between 2 and 4 in the night, you can see the sunrise from the top. But due to traffic, we were late in reaching the village We reached Bari village situated at the base of Kalsubai peak at 5 o'clock. The morning was very cold and being a village, it was very dark.
Stages Of Sunrise |
Following a brief introduction and equipment setup, we embarked on our trek around 5:15 AM. The path unfolded in three distinct stages or plateaus. However, the crowd began to swell as word of Kalsubai's beauty, particularly its mesmerizing cloud formations, spread across social media.
One of the most alluring aspects of Kalsubai treks is their propensity to start during the nighttime. Beginning the climb in the dark hours of the early morning lends trekkers the extraordinary opportunity to witness the sun's first rays painting the sky from a vantage point like no other. The thrill of watching the sunrise from such heights is an experience truly distinct.
The initial 20% of the trek seemed relatively manageable, but as we progressed, we encountered iron steps and a tougher terrain. The viral cloud videos had attracted a large number of visitors, leading to congestion and delays. While reaching the summit typically takes 3 to 4 hours, our journey extended to 5 hours, mostly due to the bottleneck at the iron stairs, a somewhat intimidating passage.
I stood on the edge to see the beautiful view from the side with the blessings of the goddess. Castles were visible everywhere and it looked as if a sheet of clouds had been drawn behind those castles. I didn't know the name but decided that one day I will see all these forts. I don't know how but I will explore. I have never seen such beautiful nature.
After looking down, I was actually looking at a part of the earth in a geography book.I could not believe it. Big people say celebrate the mountains from afar... They use this sentence to use in life but I say you can't celebrate the mountains from afar. Because climbing a mountain gives a different joy and also gives a very different experience.I took few photos and videos.
Then I sat quietly And was only looking at the forts in front. Seeing that, I was getting a different inspiration. When I told home that I want to go trekking, everyone said you can't. But I believed in myself and saw the dream come true since childhood. Sitting there for a while, I decided that I want to live under the holy eyes of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
After a while we started our return journey. It was very crowded on the way down. We started descending at around 12 o'clock. After a little further it was very crowded. For where there were iron steps, there were as many people on both sides of the ascent and ascent. The heat from the top was so high that those who were suffering from congestion were vomiting, many people were also dizzy due to the heat. How come it took us 4 hours to get down. So it took a lot of time.
I freshened up where We kept our luggage in the morning, had a hot meal. which is dal, rice, polli, bhaji, papad After eating we started our return journey.
Thanks for Visiting...
