Kopineshwar Mandir,Thane


Kopineshwar Mandir is a historical temple of Thane city. Kopineshwar Mandir is located on the narrow Station Road of Thane, Maharashtra. There are three ways to enter the temple. One is from the flower market near Jambhali Naka circle, And second is from the vegetable market which is in front of Talao pali bus stop.The third way is From the main market.

Timing : 6am to 9pm

in Maharashtra and is a visited by many local devotees as well as tourists. At the gateway of temple, an individual is welcomed by big Nandi, the bull of Lord Shiva.

Kopineshwar Mandir History

The Mandir (temple) was constructed during the reign of the Shilahara dynasty. It was renovated and rebuilt in 1739, when Peshwa Chimaji Appa liberated Thane from Portuguese control. The hall in front of the Garbha Griha was rebuilt in 1879.This temple has stood strong as an embodiment of cultural fusion and religious significance.

  The major deity temple of Shiva has Shivalinga which has the diameter of almost five feet and its height is also five feet. It is assumed that the Shiva Linga grows in height each year and said that the day when it will touch the roof of the temple, a Pralay will happen.
